An insight into Wellbeing at Yubup Primary School!

At Yubup Primary School, we endeavour to support students to learn effectively and to develop positive attitudes and behaviours in several ways. Through delivering a framework of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) we endeavour to provide our students with practical learning activities that will best equip them for future endeavours. Our Social and Emotional Learning currently comprises of Respectful Relationships and Whole School Value Lessons that are delivered to students once a week. The Wellbeing Team here at Yubup PS have created a visual of our SWPBS Matrix (School Wide Positive Behaviour Support) which is very reflective of who we are at Yubup PS and the values we expect from one another! At Yubup Primary School we boast a ‘No Suprises Rule’ where we:

• Are proactive in providing regular and transparent communication with parents as issues arise
• Ensure that we promptly follow up on all issues as we are made aware of them, and
• Utilise a restorative approach with our students to help solve and resolve any issues across our school.

Our classroom teachers are always your first point of contact whether it be an academic or wellbeing concern. Our Executive Leadership Team is also available to discuss and support with any issues that need additional support or that require a more complex resolution. In addition, we provide an extra layer of support for students and their families who require ongoing or one-time assistance as part of our wellbeing program which is available to all students and families as required.

We strongly believe in the approach ‘Connect before you Correct’ and make our number one priority at Yubup Primary School for all staff to make genuine connections with our many different and unique students. Once you join Yubup Primary School, you become a member of our ‘family’ where we all work together and look out for one another!
